Details about me:

I am a teacher of 14 years at Park Ridge Elementary.  I teach fourth grade and run the gifted after-school program for my school. This year I finished my masters in reading and will also be finishing my gifted endorsement by Christmas.  I love working with kids – there are no hidden surprises – they tell you what they are thinking, when they are thinking it! I am single – but am a doting aunt. I have several sleep-overs a year at my house and spend most of my time with my family.

What is your God-story or testimony?
I was raised in a Christian family and have gone to church all my life. In the third grade I went to a “Good News Club” where I first asked Jesus to be my savior.  In high school I was baptised twice. (First time I cheated – I told God I would go forward if my sister did. The second time I did it on my own.   In college I was part of the Student Baptist Ministry which was a time of huge growth in my spiritual life.  Since then I continue to do my best to “Trust and Obey” by reading scripture, praying about all aspects of my life and taking risks when God asks me to go out of my safety zone.  I have often felt God’s hand on my life as I have moved to different towns and taken on new responsibilities.  God has been very good to me and daily I thank him for all my many blessings.

A verse, quote, or thought you tend to “live” by.
Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
What your family/friends say about you?
I have a great sense of humor – love to laugh and act silly. (Nieces and nephews can attest to that.)  I am very patient – do not get upset easily.  I am a good listener and enjoy helping others.
What are things about you that most people don’t know? I love to travel and plan on going to New Zealand in a few years.  I would love to own a wheel and kiln and make pottery. (I’m a little bit of a granola type – love nature and worry about the effects of technology and perservatives.) I only had my ears pierced a couple of years ago. (Totally shocked my family.)  Can be a bit of a speed demon in my car – where I am least patient with other drivers.

Personality?
I am a phlegmatic – which means calm, easy-going, hard to get too riled or too excited. Not very ambitious but enjoy being organized and ready. Feelings can be easily hurt if I feel unappreciated or condescended to. Because I am very small people often treat me as far younger than I am – I get a lot of “cute” remarks which I loathe.  Other than that its pretty hard to make me angry.

Have you lived in any unusual places? My family moved a lot when I was younger due to my dad’s occupation as helicopter pilot. My favorite places were Kodiak, Alaska and Window Rock, Arizona on the Nez Perce reservation. They were both very interesting cultures with many different kinds of foods and art.

Do you have talents? My talents are music and writing.

Funny things about you? People say I have a very distinctive laugh. (Not sure what that means – hopefully I don’t bray like a donkey.)
An accomplishments  you are proud of? Getting the National Teacher Certification for Middle students. And finishing my Masters this year.
